remarques: | this first issue "the legion of monsters" was a one-shot publication by Marvel Comics under serie 2447 dated September 1975, however the title is featuring again under Marvel Preview No. 8 (1976) black and white, 76 pages, 1 $ legion of monsters, serie 2447, no 1, september 1975 cover Neal Adams 1/ Frankenstein monster, the monster and the masque it was a jolly old costume party until the arrival of two uninvited guests by Doug Moench and Val Mayerik 2/ the manphibian, vengeance crude he came from beyond the stars, seeking revenge on the murderer who had shattered his life by Marv Wolfman and Dave Cockrum 3/ the flies, they called him Chuckles and they laughed at him by Gerry Conway and Paul Kirschner 4/ Bram Stoker's Dracula, death, be thou proud a man-demon stalks London 5/ monster gallery by various artists Information the Legion of Monsters first appeared in Marvel Comics chronology in Marvel Premiere #28 and were created by Bill Mantlo, Frank Robbins, and Steve Gan. a similar team appeared in a one-shot anthology Curtis magazine, Legion of Monsters #1, in September 1975, pre-dating Marvel Premiere #28 by five months, the line-up was almost identical; Ghost Rider was not present, but the magazine included Frankenstein's Monster, Dracula, Werewolf by Night, Manphibian, Man-Thing, and Morbius, the Living Vampire, the story continued in Marvel Preview #8. the first version of the Legion of Monsters were united by chance to investigate the appearance of a strange being called the Starseed, athough the being was benevolent, Morbius, the Living Vampire and Werewolf by Night were overcome by their hungers and attacked it, Ghost Rider intervened as the Starseed was unable to overcome his fear of Man-Thing and was burned by it, the dying Starseed attempted to cure the Legion of their monstrous forms, but was too weak and died minutes later, tired of fighting and disappointed in their actions the team split up, although they barely even acknowledged being a team in the first place |
